1 cupsoftened butter (250 mL)

1 cuppacked brown sugar (250 mL)

1/2 cupgranulated sugar (125 mL)

2eggs

1 1/2 tspsvanilla extract (7 mL)

2 cupsall-purpose flour (500 mL)

1 tspbaking soda (5 mL)

1/2 tspsalt (2 mL)

1 cupchopped nuts (optional) (250 mL)

Heat oven to 375°F (190°C).

In large bowl, beat softened butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla until creamy.

In medium bowl, mix together flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually blend into creamed mixture.

Stir in HERSHEY'S CHIPITS Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips and chopped nuts, if using.

Drop from small spoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown.
